Formula for Instagram Success

Maximizing Your Return on Investment

Let’s pull everything together. To maximize to your return on investment with your Instagram marketing efforts, you must have a strong emphasis on the following:

  • Design
  • Landing Page
  • Engaging Content
  • Post Frequency
  • Quick Response
  • Conversion Tracking

Winning Design: The first impression is everything for someone who clicks on your Instagram page for the first time. This is when they will decide if they like your brand, find your business interesting enough to follow, or purchase your product. Do not make the mistake of neglecting the design of your page. You will never get the response you are looking for if you do not have an appealing Instagram page. Determine the feeling you want people to have when they come to your Instagram page and coordinate your profile and content accordingly.

Landing Page: You cannot post links in any of your posts on Instagram. You are only allowed to place one link in your Instagram biography. Make it count. You may want to create a landing page specific to the product or service you are selling in attempt to quantify people who are interested in your product into sales or a lead (filled out a form). People will click on your link if they find your page interesting. Make sure that you are giving them the information that they are looking for when they land on your website.

Engagement Strategy: Your content should incorporate your brand and the interests of your audience. Engage them with relevant content, tips, questions, and contests. Take your engagement efforts even further by reaching out to people who are not connected to your brand by searching hashtags and liking, commenting, and mentioning people using them.

Post Frequency: People are very particular about the content that appears on their Instagram timelines. Don’t overload them with content. Aim to post daily but no more than 2-3 posts a day. Post these 2-3 photos sporadically throughout the day and not all at once.

Quick Response: The quicker you respond the better. Some people will not reply if you wait too long to reply to their comments and questions. Interact with them while your business is fresh on their mind. Think of every comment or question as a potential customer who just walked into your store. Show them how much you care about them and their needs.

Conversion Tracking: Measure your desired goal. Evaluate how many people you are following a month and what percentage of those people converted into followers. Evaluate how many of those followers are engaging with your content. Compare your Instagram page to your competitors – are you generating more traction or less traction than they are? Track how many website clicks you are getting from Instagram on a monthly basis and how many of those clicks translated into sales. If you are not reaching your desired goal from Instagram, you need to reevaluate your design, engagement strategy, incentives, landing page, or product.
