Here’s Our Secret On How To Get 2 Million Website Visits With One Simple Keyword Hack
We’ve generated over 2 million hits to our website, and we get asked all the time, how do we do it?
Well, you don’t have to be a marketing genius to generate that kind of traffic.
So what’s the real trick behind generating millions of hits?
All it takes for some people is one simple method.
Today, we’re going to show you exactly how you can start driving millions of hits to your website in this post!
We will be going over a simple method that you can start using today to drive a lot of hits to your website.
The method we’re about to share with you only consists of a few steps, but it will make a big difference in the amount of monthly website visitors that you get.
The Method
One of the reasons our method to drive traffic to websites works so quickly is because we’re not going to tell you what everybody else tells you.
Every other marketing expert out there will share with you the same old recycled methods on how to find and generate new traffic.
We’re always hearing about running Facebook ads or trying to find new keywords to rank for.
And if you’ve been trying to do any kind of marketing for some time, we’re pretty sure that you’ve heard about this over and over again.
However, the method that we’re about to share with you is the exact opposite. And this is actually one of the most effective keyword research tips you’ll find.
Specifically, what we’re proposing is that you find keywords that you already rank for and then find long-tailed variations of that same keyword.
And then use that to improve your rank for the long-tailed versions of that keyword and then you can start generating new traffic.
If this looks like a lot, let us slow down and breakdown everything step-by-step.
What Are Short-tail Keywords And Long-tail Keywords?
Short-tail keywords are phrases that contain between 1-3 words.
Long-tail keywords are phrases that have 4-6 words but sometimes, they can even have more than that.
People will usually use short-tail keywords when searching for something general.
And long-tail keywords when looking for something very specific and they want a very narrow search result.
Due to short-tail keywords servicing many broad topics, they are much more competitive and thus, harder to rank for.
This, of course, means that long-tail keywords are a lot easier to rank for.
And people who search long-tail keywords are often more likely to buy because they are looking for something highly specific.
For example, someone searching for business news may find a large broad amount of options in the search results.
Whereas someone searching for business news on stocks for the afternoon will find a very specific search they are looking for.
People that perform a search with a short-tail keyword are often earlier in the buying process.
However, we want to target short-tail keywords you’re already ranking for this with this method.
How Will This Method Benefit You?
Well, did you know that if you rank highly for a short-tail keyword, also known as a head term…
…you will usually rank higher for all of the long-tailed variations of that keyword faster on Google?
The reason for this is because, like we just mentioned, it is much harder to rank higher for the head term than a single long-tail keyword.
Now you might be wondering, “How do I use this method? Where do I start?“
Let’s break it down step-by-step.
3 Steps On How To Get 2 Million Website Visits
Step 1: Find The Short-tail Keywords You Are Performing Best For
So the first step is to find the short-tail keywords that you already rank highly for.
Here’s how you can do that.
Head over to semrush.com and create an account, if you don’t have one already.
A free account is all you’ll need for the purposes we’re going to discuss in this post.
Once you are there, locate the advertising tab on the left side of your screen and click on advertising research.
Now, enter your website’s URL and search.
If you scroll down, you’ll see a list of all of your top keywords.
Pick out your top short-tail keywords and head over to Google Search Console and log-in.
Once there, you’ll see yet again, all of the search terms you are ranking for.
Now we know what you’re thinking, that this is starting to get confusing.
Stick with us though.
What we want you to do for this step is compile a list of all of your top-ranking short-tail keywords that you found on SEMrush and Google Search Console.
Step 2: Find The Long-Tail Variations Of Your Best Ranking Short-Tail Keywords
Now that you’ve compiled a list of all of your highest ranking short-tail keywords, what we want you to do is head back over to SEMrush.
Once there, scroll down to that advertising tab again except this time, scroll down and select “Keyword Magic Tool”.
Enter in one of your highest ranking short-tail keywords and perform a search.
The results will include all of the variations of that keyword.
Now, we want you to create a list of the most popular long-tail variations of your highest-ranking short-tail keywords.
You might notice that the traffic you can get from the long-tail variations of that keyword will be much lower than the short versions alone.
But, if you add the traffic you can get from a handful of those long-tail keywords put together…
…in some instances, you’ll get more traffic from that than just the short-tail variation.

Step 3: Revise Your Website Pages
Now the last step on how to get 2 million website visits is to go back to the web pages that are ranking for your highest-ranking short-tail keywords.
And then, revise those web pages.
How?
By including as many of the long-tail keywords from your list as possible.
This doesn’t mean just throw them in wherever they might fit.
You need to rewrite your content so that you are adding value while also optimizing for SEO. This will accomplish a number of different things.
For starters, it will help improve SEO of your website for all of those long-tail keywords which is sure to drive more traffic to your website.
It will also help to significantly increase the quality of your content.
By adding all of the long-tail keywords you’ve listed onto your website pages that rank for the short-tail variation of those keywords…
…you’ll be producing some of the most detailed, engaging pages available on that topic.
This means that after visiting those web pages, your audience won’t feel the need to search anywhere else online for the answers to their questions.
And this is because your website pages now provide them with all of the answers that they could possibly think of all in one convenient place.
Now in 30 days of going back and optimizing your website pages, you will start finding some of your pages rank higher on Google for those long-tail keyword variations.
Because you already rank highly for them for the head term, it becomes a lot easier to rank for the long-tail keyword variations.
How To Use This Method If You Currently Don’t Rank Highly For Any Short-tail Keywords
Some of you might be thinking what if you don’t rank highly for any short-tail keywords?
Well, to get the best results from using this method, we would recommend to start building up your rank for some short-tail keywords.
However, as we mentioned, ranking for short-tail keywords can take a very long time.
So instead, what you can do in the meantime to increase your website visitors is to go after long-tail keywords.
1. Target Long-tail Keywords
Remember how we said long-tail keywords are easier to rank for?
Although they won’t individually bring in as much traffic as short-tail keywords, you can start by targeting them since they are much easier to rank for!
By targeting long-tail keywords, you will start to see an increase in the number of monthly website visitors you receive.
Because those small trickles of traffic will compound one after another.
2. Update Old Pages and Blogs
Another step in this method that you can still use, even if you don’t rank for short-tail keywords yet, is updating old pages and blogs.
If you’ve had your website or blog for a while now and post content regularly, odds are some of the content that still lives on your site is outdated.
By simply updating your content and adding value and new keywords in your old posts…
…you’ll be able to improve your SEO which will help you get more website visitors.
For example, WordStream ranked their top 10 blog posts from 2018.
But look what happens when you click on the third post on the list.
What’s that last updated date say?
This company is updating blog posts from 2018 as recent as December of 2022!
Your competition could be doing this too which is why it’s a good idea for you to start if you haven’t already.
When using the method we shared today, repeat the steps for any and all short-tail keywords you rank highly for to see the best results.
This method can be used over and over again to continuously increase the number of website visitors that you receive.
